Level up your wedding photography business
I get asked all the time about whether I take on mentors and would I help other photographers to grow their wedding photography businesses.
The answer is, YES! There’s more than enough space for us all to eat out here.
And after 15 years in the photography business, I’m at the point where I can and enjoy teaching others.
I was recently featured on Iann Ivy’s “Persevere” podcast about how I grew my wedding photography brand from absolutely nothing to a six figures business, I spoke about my entrepreneurship journey and not having all of the answers at the beginning. As I discussed with Iann, when you start a business, it’s extremely common to know what to do next. That’s one of the reasons I offer mentoring.
One of the most common mindsets I come across within the digital education space is “why should we listen to you?”
I understand completely.
Let me tell you a bit more about me, and what I’ve been able to do in the photography business.
Accolades
I recognize that awards and publications do not define an artist, however, I do appreciate them. I have received a few cool distinctions over the last 15 years. Here are a few:
Named on “Top 25 Best Wedding Photographers in Charlotte” (2023) — Wedding Rule
Named on “Top 12 Boudoir Photographers in Charlotte” (2022) — Peerspace
Named on “11 Amazing Wedding Videographers in Charlotte” (2023) — Wedding Rule
Interviewed and featured on CharlotteFive and Charlotte Observer about my Wedding Photography brand
Interviewed and featured in Weddings by Southpark publication
Interviewed and featured on “Persevere Podcast” about my Wedding Photography brand — Available on Audible, Spotify and iHeart
Interviewed by Search Solution Group podcast about my Wedding Photography brand
Interviewed by The University of Georgia multiple times about my Wedding Photography brand
Work featured on cover of “Ask Carolyn” book
Top Finalist multiple years running in The Shoot & Share Contest
Featured speaker on photography and photojournalism: University of Georgia, Johnson C. Smith University
Member, PPA
And here are some of the top reasons students have chosen to mentor under me.
MY TRACK RECORD AND approach:
✓ I built a six-figure business in one of the most crowded spaces, wedding photography — not in the easy days — but when it was already crowded.
✓ I’m still in the business — Unlike those ‘gurus’ who teach business but don’t do it — I actually have one — I’ve hired multiple employees, created products, made sales, maintained a stellar brand reputation for 10+ years
✓ I can teach you how to sell — In the last 3 years, my wedding photography business has seen year-over-year revenue jumps while others have exited the industry
✓ I built my business on solid ethics and I can teach you how to do the same
✓ I have a unique perspective and I will keep it real with you
SO… If you want to cut your learning curve in half, and see success within your photography business, consider mentoring with me.
NOTE: This will be available for an extremely limited number of mentees, and there is an interview process to ensure a good fit.
Our Program:
Our program can be conducted either as multiple 1:1 coaching sessions (best if you prefer shorter meetings, perhaps on weekday evenings), or a deep-dive bootcamp-style session (best if you’re prefer one long bootcamp session, perhaps on a Sunday morning). There are multiple types of learners, so decide for yourself which would be a fit.
The program will include:
Photography style review - we will assess your photography and identify whether you have a consistent style
Brand review - Audit of your website, social presence
Targeted recommendations and suggestions for how to improve
Coaching on how to improve with client consultations to dramatically improve your booking ratio
Basically, I will create for you a complete roadmap that will quickly take your business from passion to profit.
How do I know whether this is right for me? Here’s a quick self-audit. Do you identify with any of the following statements or questions?
“I have a difficult time lining up sales calls and rarely ever book clients.”
“I feel like I never know what to say on potential client calls.”
“Which camera is best for wedding photography?”
“I want to have a successful wedding photography business but have no clue how to even get started.”
“How do I increase prices?”
“I love taking pictures but wish I could find more clients.”
“How do you advertise your photography?”
“What software should I get to edit wedding photos?”
“I want a photography business but I’ve never had a business before so I have no clue where to start.”
“I’ve been running a photography business for a while but a friend/rival photographer/mortal enemy seems to be having so much success while mine is floundering.”
“Should I use presets?”
“Editing is taking me so much time.”
“Should I be on Instagram/Tik Tok?”
“Why the **** isn’t my website working or getting me clients".”
and MORE.
All of this and more I can help you with. Literally NOTHING is off-the-table.
But the real question is, are you coachable? Do you want to learn, and are you ready to implement tailored suggestions that can dramatically increase your success?
Some people are ready for a business coach.
Some, however, are not.
