With all the places the city has to offer, there has to be at least one out-of-the-box spot that matches your fly, right? Absolutely. In fact, we have five of them, plus a bonus! Because you deserve an engagement session that’s as original as you are.
Even if you thought a regular-schmegular shoot would do, you owe it to each other to try something different. What we love about these locations is that they cater to the funkiest of couples with art deco, historic landmarks, and other things you just won’t find in a studio. Take your pick from these five funky Charlotte locations (plus one more!).
1. Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams
Do you both scream for ice cream? Then turn your next trip to the ice cream shop into a funky engagement session! Visit any of the three Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams locations in Charlotte, -- Southend, Park Road, or NoDa -- choose from over 30 flavors of goodness in a waffle cone (or cup), and smile!
2. NoDa
North Davidson, commonly known as NoDa, is home to art and music lovers alike. Pose in front of colorful brick walls, including the Welcome to Noda wall. Take your pick from a variety of restaurants and bars. Or, just start walking, because you’re going to discover something unique that makes your engagement session certified funky.
3. Plaza Midwood
Plaza Midwood is home to, well, some fabulous historical homes! Take a stroll through this pedestrian’s dream of a neighborhood to find the funkiest spots for your engagement session. In love with a beer-lover? Then make your way to one of several breweries for a post or with a craft beer, or two. Cheers to a funky engagement sesh!
4. Camp North End
Camping out is fun again! There’s plenty of food, games, and live music to create your funky engagement session in one of the city’s newest areas, Camp North End. For an industrial theme, pose with the water tower in the backdrop, or the container sign. Local artists help make Camp North End come alive with vibrant colors to match any session.
5. Southend
Right outside Uptown, or south of it, is Southend, an emerging hip neighborhood with plenty of funk to choose from. Start at the world-famous Midnight Diner for a nostalgic engagement session. Then make your way to Evelyn Henson’s Confetti Hearts wall, Triple C, to Wooden Robot, to Sycamore, and more. If wine is your beverage of choice, there’s plenty to go around with several wine bars in the area, including Dilworth Tasting Room. Of course, you’ll want to walk it off on the funkiest walking trail in Charlotte, next to the light rail.
Bonus: Fourth Ward
Uptown’s not-so-hidden gem is found in Fourth Ward, a neighborhood where Victorian homes and modern highrises live together for one funky time! Fourth Ward Park is a natural escape inside of Uptown, while Poplar Tapas is al fresco dining surrounded by skyscrapers. The Secret Gardens gives couples classified info they’ll want to keep. If you dare, get spooked during your session with a haunted carriage ride. Boo!
There are so many opportunities to get funky in your engagement session throughout Charlotte.
