8 Charlotte College Campuses for Your Engagement Session

With an array of fabulousness, colleges and universities offer numerous opportunities for your engagement photo shoot. We’re talking equal excitement times ten! From historical landmarks to greenery overload, the math is mathing in Charlotte and surrounding areas when it comes to perfect pics for the newly engaged.

1. The University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC)

The campus is so large it has a whole neighborhood named after it and deserves to be head of the class. UNCC has it all, from 49ers-center memorabilia, to the football stadium, to the student union, and a tall-standing clock that can be viewed for miles. Construction within the past several years has led to the erection of more iconic buildings, and the city’s light rail system is an added bonus. 

2. Davidson College

Engagement sessions with a homespun feel are not hard to find in the area. Located 30 minutes north of Charlotte in Davidson is Davidson College, an unassuming institution surrounded by sculptures, blossoming trees, and centuries-old architecture. The buildings offer a classical feel often found in romantic novels, while acres of greenery provide a natural touch to any engagement session. Nearby, Downtown Davidson consists of several nostalgic streets to choose from, so if small-town vibes are what you’re searching for, this town has all the answers. 

3. Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC)

CPCC has six campuses throughout the city to choose from when selecting an engagement session, but let’s focus on the Central Piedmont Central Campus, the main CPCC, because it offers the city-life views of Uptown Charlotte while taking you to school with campus scenes that make the grade. Its parking garage creates shooting backdrops you’d never thought would be possible at a campus. Meanwhile, the trolley service offers a whimsical option for a great escape off-campus, only this time you won’t get suspended for skipping class.

4. Queens University of Charlotte

A session in the Queen Cit-tay is not complete without a visit to Queens University. Myers Park’s gem is surrounded by several of Charlotte’s impressive home designs. As an added bonus, Freedom Park is minutes away. With new buildings throughout the campus and enormous lawn chairs for props, Queens College deserves a gold star on the photoshoot report card. 

5. Johnson & Wales University

The sweetest college campus in Charlotte is found in Uptown. Johnson & Wales University-Charlotte is designed to prepare students for a future in the restaurant and hospitality industries, but an engagement sesh prepares you for a future with your mate. This campus is the perfect blend of modern architecture mixed with a dash of historic structures. These elements and other campus features make for a delight of a photo experience that takes the cake. 

6. Belmont Abbey College

For an engagement session south of Charlotte, study what Belmont Abbey College has to offer. The campus was selected as one of the country’s National Register of Historic Places in 1993, with good reason. There’s the Abbey Church, the most famous structure of the college and it’s accompanying castle-like buildings that certainly earn Belmont Abbey all of the awards.

7. Winthrop University

You’ll want to travel into Rock Hill, SC to research the formula for the quintessential southern photo session. A manicured courtyard surrounded by immaculate brick buildings makes Winthrop University the smart choice for engagement photos without the I-77 journey into Charlotte. 

8. Wingate University

Close to Charlotte is Wingate University, with a pond and a bridge overpass that gives the campus a passing grade. What's great about the campus is that it’s close enough to Charlotte (it’s about 45 minutes from the city under normal traffic conditions) to give you session options, in case the Charlotte skyline is calling your name.
