Local Wedding Photographer Robert Burns II to Launch New "BRIDE Magazine"

PROMISES TO BE Comprehensive Resource for Couples Planning Their Perfect Day

Charlotte, NC - May 1, 2024 - Acclaimed wedding photographer Robert Burns II, owner of Robert Burns II Photography and Videography, LLC, is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of his very first wedding industry-targeted publication, "BRIDE Magazine." Scheduled for release in May 2024, the inaugural edition promises to be a groundbreaking addition to the world of wedding planning.

"I am incredibly excited to introduce 'BRIDE Magazine' to the wedding industry next month," said Robert Burns II, who has photographed more than 200 weddings since he broke into the industry in 2015. "After 8 years of capturing the love stories of couples around the world, I wanted to create a resource that not only showcases beautiful imagery but also provides couples with the guidance and inspiration they need to plan their perfect day, interviewing over a dozen experts from every corner of the industry, from venue owners to hair and makeup artists. It's a really full-circle moment to be able to give back to the community in this way."

BRIDE Magazine will be a self-published annual publication, formatted as a digital-first magazine.

With a lifelong passion for journalism that began in high school, Burns is uniquely positioned to launch "BRIDE Magazine." A graduate of The University of Georgia's renowned Grady College of Journalism, Burns has written for more than 10 print and online publications, honing his skills as a storyteller and communicator before growing into the Editor-in-Chief capacity.

Rather than a monthly or quarterly publication, he opted to make BRIDE Magazine annual, to be able to place a high degree of emphasis on editorial quality, as he’ll now balance editing and producing this magazine with photographing and filming 15+ weddings each year.

Burns' work has been previously published in a variety of established wedding and fashion magazines, such as Weddings by Southpark, Carolina Bride, and Charlotte Five, in addition to international publications such as ELEGANT Magazine, based in France. He mentions he was heavily influenced by the now-defunct Carolina Bride publication, and with this magazine aims to bring back part of that charm and focus on editorial quality.

“Early in my career, I was a huge fan of both Carolina Bride and North Carolina Bridal Magazine, and not at all ashamed to say they inspired me,” he said. “Our new BRIDE Magazine will blend some of the best elements of these two, but offer something new in the way of not only imagery, provided by my unique style, but also the curated interview series with the experts. I was very intentional with not only the questions I asked, but which vendors I chose to include. I wanted the vast majority to be experts I’ve worked with numerous times, and whose words of expertise I trust wholly.”

BRIDE Magazine promises an “Ultimate Guide to Planning the Perfect Wedding,” where a wide range of vendors are interviewed on topics around wedding trends in their space, considerations couples should keep in mind when hiring vendors in their category, and their approach to working with couples.

“I just rarely see magazines do it like this,” he said. “I see a lot of publications focus purely on inspiration imagery with styled shoots and weddings, which I love, but what about leading couples through the vendor selection process, even before the planning of the minute details? I feel like that has gotten lost. We need to do both, and BRIDE Magazine will be a part of changing that.”

BRIDE Magazine will be formatted as an e-magazine, but will also have a limited print run for participating venues, and couples who may want to hold a tangible copy of the magazine in their hands as they plan their wedding. The inaugural edition won’t include paid local advertisements from wedding vendors, an intentional decision ensure that Burns made, to ensure the focus is squarely on providing maximum value to the brides picking up the magazine.

“None of the vendors paid to be in the magazine,” he said. "It was really important to me to make sure we focused on simply creating value for the reader. This is something we could carefully consider in the future, but I'd have to be certain that any businesses that wanted to pay for space through sponsored posts were not only closely aligned with the mission and vision of the magazine, but also added an incredible amount of value for my brides."

Thought was put into the vendors selected for interviews.

“Being that I’m mostly booked in Charlotte and recently expanded to Philly, my hometown, I opted to only include partnering wedding industry experts from within a 150-mi. local radius of those two regions. What’s really cool though is that inspiration and editorials on selection and planning are applicable to anyone that picks up BRIDE. No matter which city or state you live in, you could read BRIDE magazine and take away some tangible tips on selecting wedding vendors, be inspired, and even find your wedding photographer,” he said.

As you might imagine with a magazine produced by a wedding photographer-turned-editor, all imagery throughout the publication will be provided by Robert Burns II. In addition, I chose to include some select portfolio images from J.P Photography, another local Charlotte area photographer he has collaborated with since day one.

“Jordan Pierce is not only one of my best friends in life, with us both photographing key moments for each other such as proposals and engagements, but we’ve built our businesses alongside each other. We’ve done over 100 weddings together, but I still respect him as an individual business owner, and I love that variety that he offers my brides.”

"BRIDE Magazine" will be available for viewing directly on the Robert Burns II Photography & Videography LLC website, and print on-demand copies will be available as well.
